The Badshah of Bad

.

He is known as India's smartest, most business savvy metrosexual living man this side of the Atlantic.
He has converted himself into a million dollar brand that can sell anything under the sun.
Brand Shah Rukh
Is the brand loosing its luster?
Will this mean that he will finally come to his senses?

While we all know he lost his mind a few years ago, when we started seeing him on every billboard in every road on every town in every state of the country, when he brawled with the MCA officials after his team won the last match in Mumbai. Not unusual for stars to act like divas, but then again this is Shah Rukh Khan.
He once famously said 'Whenever I feel arrogant, I'd like to visit the US'. Well, maybe it's time for SRK to book a weekly pass to the US just about now.

But what has happened to a man who was the darling of billions?
SRK has always been the brash, mercurial, self confessed 'arrogant' star. Could this be the unraveling of all that the actor has been going through for a few years? His movie career, of late, is not something we can write home about. He has been home- delivering a string of half baked flops for a while. His premier league cricket team has only come of age in this year but considering how this game is as much chance as luck, this is not something I would say is because of his effort.

While many say that this famous brawl is just the signs of SRK loosing his marbles, I am amazed about the wicked coincidence this has with the biggest betting scam to hit the cash rich cricket league. A masterstroke, indeed.
SRK, after all, is a brand that is available for hire at the right price.

But can a person like SRK bear to fade into the sunset?
Can a generation fed on celebrity tantrums and gimmicks let their idol become obsolete?
Indians have notoriously short memory and all this will be forgiven soon. SRK will eventually 'regret' and 'apologize' for the way he behaved and MCA will lift the ban just in time for IPL 2013.

And we will all cheer for him. Again.

kaisi aub khamoshi

holding hands 2

Lyrics once again...

kaise yeh khaamoshi , kaise yeh  duniya,
na koi khawish, nadarad sub arman,
na koi aahat na muskurahat

arzoo khatam thi bus khaalipan tha,
main kho chuki thi, sub ko pata tha,
kaise thi yeh duniya, kaisi thi khamoshi
hmmm hm hm hm

kuch shor suna toe ,hal chal hone lagi....
kaun hai woh jis ke kadmon ki aahat sunai dene lagi...
begana tha woh w , ab apna lagne laga.....

gazab ki hul chul hai ,
 mera badan ab mehakne laga......

phool ban gayi hoon , main khil uthi hoon,
jab se woh mere saath chalne lage......

kaisi  ab yeh dunia, kaisi ab khaoshi,
veerana bhi ab khoobsurat lagne laga.....
ab kaisi khamoshi, ab kaisi khalipan
hmm hm hm hm...

dekho to mujh ko , meri saanson ko soongho,
bus un ki hi mehak aane lagi....

ab na koi gum na koi fikar hai,
bus un ki bahon mein main simat jane lagi.....

meri muskurahat ko dekho , meri aankhon mein dekho
woh aub yeh bayan karne  lagi....

main kho chuki hoon , un ki ho chuki hoon,
ab kaisi khamoshi,ab kaise nadarad arman,
hmm hm hm hm

aie merie dhadkan aei meri sansen...
tum kiyun behkne lagi....

aab tum hi karo kuch.....

kaise bataon

Do you think I can write lyrics ??

meri badan ki har taar pakad len ,mujhe apna samjh len.....

aai hawa tum jub chalo toe, mujh ko choo kar tum jana ,mere badan ki ,thodi si kushboo saath le janna....
un ko bataana....hmm hmmm hmmm hmmm

what comes first

Before i come to the point its important for one to understand where i am coming from. Here is an account of a relevant story that I feel would help me express my feelings and the message I am trying to convey in a better way

"I am depressed ... without phone ... money for rent ... money for child support ... money for debts ... money!!! ... I am haunted by the vivid memories of killings and corpses and anger and pain ... of starving or wounded children, of trigger-happy madmen, often police, of killer executioners ... I have gone to join Ken (recently deceased colleague Ken Oosterbroek) if I am that lucky" excerpts from suicide noteof Kevin Carter who took his own life by taping one end of a hose to his pickup truck’s exhaust pipe and running the other end to the passenger-side window. He died of carbon monoxide poisoning

                                                                     Carter's Pulitzer Prize-winning photographIn
Carter's prize winning photograph was sold to the New York Times, the photograph first appeared on March 26, 1993. Hundreds of people contacted the newspaper to ask the fate of the girl. The paper reported that it was unknown whether she had managed to reach the feeding center. In 1994, the photograph won the Pulitzer Prize for Feature Photography.

English Indians

"Hey you need to improve your English  " I over heard an English speaking lad who sat right behind me, at the airport with his friend."but you understood what i said ,isn't  that more important , in any case English is not our language so i don't care about the accent" said she and burst out into giggles. I turned around to look at the girl, she must have been in mid thirties , beautiful looking girl who appeared to be  a small town girl from  north India. The young guy looked at her with disapproving eyes . I could make out he was  not too pleased with her reply but had no answer either and in my opinion she was absolutely right in what she had just said.

Black or White (guest post )

Hundreds of years ago, when the British landed in India to trade and later colonise and rule, they found their work cut out for them. 'Break the spirit of the common folk'
The rest is history.
Six decades later, our spirit is still broken.
Our politicians have continued to plunder our land and we are unable to tell them to quit it.
We hold ourselves in low esteem and we can't bear to be dark.
Our colonial obsession with being fair and white is legendary.

Though one of the most beautiful women, in India and abroad, have been dusky, we still patronise and yearn for that irresistably smooth and flawless white skin. Interestingly our obsession with fair skin makes great business sense too.
Unless you are buried under a rock, it is hard to miss the countless billboards and the million advertisements that no longer promote but promise you fairer whiter skin in as less as a week. Regular week, that is.
So when companies promise you white skin or (double) your money back, that is a promise that is hard to say pass to.

Over the years, I've seen creams that promise to make you fair and lovely, cover all those blemishes, get rid of dark-heads, make you fairer by several tones, control oily skin and virtually everything you could perhaps think of.
I've seen women (and men), young and the old aspiring to be young, buying creams that would whiten their skin, their hands, their under-eye and their underarms.
And if you thought this could be all that could be whitened, then how wrong did you get.

A very popular Indian fairness company now has a cream that will whiten a lady's vagina. That's right. You heard it right. For women who are ashamed of their privates because of the colour and for men who are disgusted of their wife's/girlfriend's/mistress's dark brown or black vaginas.
I'm struggling to get my head around why a lady would want to use a cream in a place as intimate as this.
Vanity? Possible.
Women throughout history have been programmed to believe that they are objects that must be made available for the exclusive pleasure of men. To be used as a sexual tool. She must be perfect everywhere.
For those who thought the Brazilian wax was taking it too far, this could be taboo.
But for unmarried women who has been promiscuous before marriage and go in for a vaginoplasty, this cream is the icing on the cake. After all, which groom will suspect his new bride's chastity if her vagina is tight and white.
It may not matter to him that he would've had a dozen romps but his bride has to be a virgin.

While we still don't know how effective the creams are, but assuming that they will whiten the V's just as fast as they promise to, can we judge the women who want to whiten their privates just so that their boyfriends or husbands or significant others don't cringe at the unsightly vision down south.
Ofcourse, this cream also means that a lady can now change everything about herself. We do have the shampoos, conditioners, soaps, creams and lotions for every other part of the body already.

I also wonder how the company is going to advertise this particular cream. But I'm going to leave this to the creative minds of our land. Would the feminists of our land demand a cream that would whiten a man's dark penis too? In a society where the men will always rule, this won't be the last product designed for our lust.

My name is not Khan (guest post)

My name is not Khan(guest post by Navin Mathew)

My Name is Khan. The movie was endearing, the star is not. Shah Rukh Khan is perhaps the most pompous, over-rated movie actor in modern times. A self proclaimed gift from God to humanity. So you got to hand it to him. He's got an amazing PR machiine working in his favor. But he has not always been this way, just so you know. There were times when he was the respectable actor with the understated charm. People, like me, used to want to watch him in the movies. But those were the good ol' days. Or like Pheobe would say - 'The days of yore'. But these days, he is busy doing the monkey at marriage parties, playing gilly danda with his cricket team, making crappy movies, slapping anonymous husbands to infamy and getting stopped at airports (Read the entertaining news here http://www.telegraphindia.com/1120413/jsp/frontpage/story_15370435.jsp#.T4hLdtno61k). What? Did you just say the great Khan is getting stopped at airports? OMG! This is totally unacceptable and a gross injustice to Indians everywhere. How can the greatest cultural icon of our times (no pun intended) dare be treated this way? Have we done the same to David Headley (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Headley)? Heck no. We allowed that combo American come, scout for places and leave. Why? Because we believe in Athiti Devo Bhava. But SRK getting pulled over by immigration (again) right after he landed is an insult. Obviously, the Americans didnt take it too kindly that he has been making an utter fool of the cheerleaders' costume for his team. And I'll bet the Americans would have left this as a comment next to his name for the immigration officials. The usual happens. India is fuming at this disgrace, and has demanded an apology. Honestly, Krishna. Do you really think the yankies could care less? Instead they'd be having a mighty good laugh at the way we throw tantrums. We're not getting it. And all this for just an actor who flew in a private jet accompanied by the wealthiest Indian wife to speak at an American University, probably about Bollywood. But ofcourse, the greatest actor in the world deserves to be treated with respect and need to be fought for. We all do. Even those Indian sailors languishing in Pakistani prisons and caught by Somalian pirates. My take: I think SRK should choose to drop the Khan, so that he can pass through airport immigration a little easier the next time and we get to hear a little less of him. My connection with Omar Khayyam !

I must have been in class seven when my dad made me and my elder sister join some painting classes. Some how before the teacher could teach us oils I was ready with my oil painting, when he tried teaching us waters next day, I went with water colour painting  and guess what I had painted , inadvertently Omar Khayyam. From that particular day onwards he started ignoring me and for several years I wondered why  did he not appreciate my work. Later  I gifted that painting to my neighbour, by the time I realised what I had painted it was too late and ever since then I started reading about this great man and his works. The painting still haunts me, at times I wish I could get it back !

Here are  few beautiful lines by Omar Khayyam thought of sharing with you all

Thou hast said that Thou wilt torment me,
But I shall fear not such a warning.
For where Thou art, there can be no torment,
And where Thou art not, how can such a place exist?
The rotating wheel of heaven within which we wonder,
Is an imaginable lamp of which we have knowledge by similitude.
The sun is the candle and the world the lamp,
We are like forms revolving within it.
A drop of water falls in an ocean wide,
A grain of dust becomes with earth allied;
What doth thy coming, going here denote?
A fly appeared a while, then invisible he became.
