Should We Speak Up Againt Marital Rape ?

There are several types of rape, generally categorised by reference to the situation in which it occurs, the sex or characteristics of the victim, and/or the sex or characteristics of the perpetrator. Different types of rape include date rape, gang rape, marital rape, incestuous rape, child sexual abuse, prison rape, acquaintance rape, war rape and statutory rape among these marital rape is quite common all over the world but rarely reported in Asian and Islamic countries .Despite the pronouncement of marital rape punishable in India , though a criminal offence but we  hardly see women come forward to report a marital rape .This post is inspired by one of my recently married employee  , an educated girl , who is in a similar situation who's parents and in-laws instead of supporting the poor girl insist that  she must give in her spouse's sexual demands to make her marriage work . And it makes me ponder " Should we not or should we speak up against marital rape ? #marital  #rape #crimeagainstwomen #nirbhaya

Marital rape, also known as spousal rape, is non-consensual sex in which the perpetrator is the victim's spouse which is rarely reported in countries like India though it is a form of partner rape, of domestic violence, and of sexual abuse. Once widely condoned or ignored by law, spousal rape is now repudiated by international conventions and increasingly criminalised. Still, in many countries, spousal rape either remains legal, or is illegal but widely tolerated and accepted as a husband's prerogative.

Throughout much of the history, in most cultures, sex in marriage was considered a 'right', that could be taken by force, if 'denied'. As the concept of human rights started to develop in the 20th century, and with the arrival of second wave feminism, such views have become less widely held. The legal and social concept of marital rape, has developed, in most industrialised countries,Historically, most religions were interpreted as tolerating or ignoring forced sexual relations in marriage. Judaism has been considered an exception to this way of thinking; in Israel, in 1980, when the Israeli Supreme Court affirmed that marital rape is a crime, it was mostly religious arguments based on the Talmud that were given by the judges

Since widely spoken Nirbhaya case Indian rape laws were amended. after a committee was constituted under Justice Verna to recommend amendments to the Criminal Law so as to provide for quicker trial and enhanced punishment for criminals accused of committing sexual assault against women. The Committee submitted its report on January 23, 2013. According to the report submitted the rape in India is defined as under -

#Rape:

The Committee was of the view that rape and sexual assault are not merely crimes of passion but an expression of power. Rape should be retained as a separate offence and it should not be limited to penetration of the vagina, mouth or anus. Any non-consensual penetration of a sexual nature should be included in the definition of rape.

"The IPC differentiates between rape within marriage and outside marriage. Under the IPC sexual intercourse without consent is prohibited. However, an exception to the offence of rape exists in relation to un-consented sexual intercourse by a husband upon a wife. The Committee recommended that the exception to marital rape should be removed. Marriage should not be considered as an irrevocable consent to sexual acts. Therefore, with regard to an enquiry about whether the complainant consented to the sexual activity, the relationship between the victim and the accused should not be relevant. "

But the question remains when will women come forward barring all the pressures of society and become vocal about marital rape in countries like India ?

Smash with Sparkling Blackberry

To bridge the gap between the muggy heat of summer and the crisp, cool breezes of autumn, here is the recipe of a Sparkling Blackberry Smash. Its a combination of the sweetness of sparkling wine and simple syrup and the earthiness of bourbon and basil. The result is both strong and stunningly easy to gulp down. It looks tempting in a glass, but is best served in a pitcher. A drink from New Orleans which has a history of inventing bitters.  #lifestyle  #drink  #cocktail  #howto

Ganga The River Ganges

Ganga ,The River Ganges has several tales abandoned in her , probably each granule of sand in the river bed has something that remains undiscovered . Acoording to Hindu mythology since Ganga had descended from heaven to earth, she is also the vehicle of ascent, from earth to heaven. As the Triloka-patha-gamini, (Skt. triloka= "three worlds",patha = "road", gamini = "one who travels") of the Hindu tradition, she flows in heaven, earth, and the netherworld (as explained below ), and, consequently, is a "tirtha," or crossing point of all beings, the living as well as the dead. It is for this reason that the story of theavatarana is told at Shraddha ceremonies for the deceased in Hinduism, and Ganges water is used in Vedic rituals after death. #GANGA  #THERIVERganges

In Hindu cosmology, Patala or Patal (Sanskrit: पाताल, Pātāla) denotes the seven lower regions of the universe - which are located under the earth. Patala is often translated as underworld or netherworld. Patala is composed of seven regions or lokas, the seventh and lowest of them is also called Patala or Naga-loka, the region of the Nagas. TheDanavas (demon sons of Danu), Daityas (demon sons of Diti), Yakshas and the snake-people Nagas live in the realms of Patala. According to Hindu cosmology, the universe is divided into the three worlds: Svarga (Heaven: six upper regions), Prithvi (earth) and Patala (the seven lower regions)- the underworld and netherworld.(wikipedia)

                                                      "Just The Way You Are

                                                                         LYRICS
Ohhhhh ohhhhhh ohhhhhh ohhhhhhh

[Verse 1:]
Oh, her eyes, her eyes
Make the stars look like they're not shinin'
Her hair, her hair
Falls perfectly without her trying
She's so beautiful
And I tell her everyday
Yeah

I know, I know
When I compliment her she won't believe me
And it's so, it's so
Sad to think that she don't see what I see
But every time she asks me, "Do I look okay?"
I say,

[Chorus:]
When I see your face (face, face...)
There's not a thing that I would change
'Cause you're amazing (amazing)
Just the way you are (are)
And when you smile (smile, smile...)
The whole world stops and stares for a while
'Cause, girl, you're amazing (amazing)
Just the way you are (are).
Yeah

[Verse 2:]
Her lips, her lips
I could kiss them all day if she'd let me
Her laugh, her laugh
She hates but I think it's so sexy
She's so beautiful
And I tell her everyday,

Oh you know, you know, you know
I'd never ask you to change
If perfects what you're searching for
Then just stay the same
So don't even bother asking if you look okay
You know I'll say,

[Chorus:]
When I see your face (face, face...)
There's not a thing that I would change
'Cause you're amazing (amazing)
Just the way you are (are)
And when you smile (smile, smile...)
The whole world stops and stares for a while
'Cause, girl, you're amazing (amazing)
Just the way you are (are)

The way you are
The way you are
Girl, you're amazing (amazing)
Just the way you are (are)

[Chorus:]
When I see your face
There's not a thing that I would change
'Cause you're amazing (amazing)
Just the way you are (are)

Scoop Out The Tom Servo Cocktail liquid nitrogen style

Tired of stuffy classical cocktails ? Well here is the cocktail recipe with difference from Brian Smith of Squeaky Bean’s bar at Denver  whose fanciful menu includes a trio of cocktails prepared liquid-nitrogen style – a century-old cold-freeze technique . He uses liquid nitrogen to plunge the temperature of the glass to a point where even alcohol freezes once poured in. At 40 degrees below zero, the liquid nitrogen boils and evaporates, priming the glass for Smith’s pre-made concoctions, which turns into solid ice before gradually thawing.Smith’s liquid-nitrogen process allows the imbiber to essentially have two cocktails in one: A frozen one – and the original  once the drink is thawed .  #cocktail  #thetomservo  #drinks  #recipe

INGREDIENTS

2 oz   Tequila Astral
1 oz   Fresh Grapefruit juice
.5 oz  Fresh Lime
.5 oz  Agave Syrup
         Liquid Nitrogen

Preparation
1)To prepare the cocktail glass to save it from shattering it needs to be chilled below 40 degrees

2)Rim the glass with salt before filling with liquid nitrogen to the brim. While the liquid nitrogen is settling down , shake the ingredients and strain. Ensure that the liquid nitrogen has boiled away or pour out the residue if any - now is the time to pour the cocktail into the glass. Initially you will enjoy the cocktail as a liquid but gradually it will freeze into a very velvety sorbet texture from the walls of the glass can be scooped out with a spoon.
